Microsoft: Google is our rival |

(AdAge.com) -- Given the bid Microsoft made for Yahoo last month, it's not surprising that the software giant's executives believe that when it comes to ad platforms, their only rival is Google. And that's the message they're taking to publishers.
"There are only two players who can really compete in this space in the long term," said Brian McAndrews, Microsoft senior VP-advertiser and publisher solutions, to the crowd of 400 gathered for the first conference organized around the Interactive Advertising Bureau's Annual Meeting. The space he was speaking about is that of an end-to-end ad platform -- an integral part of today's web. |

(BusinessWeek) Eighteen-and-a-half billion dollars is a lot of money.
It's more than the estimated 2007 gross domestic product of Nicaragua. It's bigger than the estimated 2005 expenditures of no fewer than 20 U.S. states. It's enough to give $60.78 to every person in the United States, and $2.77 to every person in the world.
And most importantly for Apple (AAPL) investors, it amounts to $21 for every share of company stock—and as of the end of most recent quarter, it's the cash pile sitting in Apple's coffers.

Microsoft puts Vista on sale |

(Reuters) - Microsoft Corp (MSFT) said on Thursday it plans to cut prices of its Windows Vista operating system sold at retail outlets in a move aimed at pushing customers to switch to the newest version of Windows. The world's largest software maker said it plans to lower retail prices for Vista in 70 countries later this year in tandem with the shipment of the first major update to Vista, known as Service Pack 1 (SP1). |
